Are We Nearly There Yet

In my younger days I could read and read and read on a car journey. I read 5 of the Harry Potter books on a school coach trip to Poland.

Now that I am older I only have to read a text message in the car and I am feeling nauseous.  I have attempted reading, writing and knitting in the car. All have the same instant effect.

However, I have now discovered road trip entertainment.

On long journeys one of us tends to sit in the back with Snaffles. There is only so much “are we nearly there yet” that you can manage from the front seat. He was soon entertained with his die cast planes from the air show and when they lost their appeal there was always daddys I-Pod and good old Sponge Bob Square Pants.

I, on the other hand managed to turn this,

Into this,

Without making myself feel ill.

I think a ball of wool and a crochet hook will now be welcome additions to my glove box now that my next project is “on the hook”.

Hopefully I will be able to think of some other car based activities to help pass long journeys. I hope not being able to read in the car is not a sign of old age!
